Creating places where we belong: London's Cohousing Opportunity

A new report from Nick Rogers AM (City Hall Conservatives) sets out a vision for creating more connected, vibrant communities in London through the promotion of cohousing. Cohousing is a housing model where residents have their own private homes (with all the amenities one would expect in any private home) but also share common spaces and facilities, fostering a strong sense of community and social interaction.

Among the report's recommendations are measures to address the key challenges faced by cohousing developments, including land availability, funding, planning, and affordable housing requirements. The report highlights the need for explicit recognition of cohousing in the London Plan, along with specific policies to encourage developers to incorporate cohousing into major schemes.

By embracing cohousing, London has the opportunity to build a more connected, resilient city for all its residents.
